Shelter to Working Dog Program

6-8 Week Program, Price Varies

The Shelter to Working Dog Program is the heart of what I do. I search shelters across my area for dogs with strong drive and potential, giving them the chance to become reliable detection and tracking K9s for law enforcement and search and rescue teams.

Most of the dogs in this program are German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, or mixes of these breeds. I evaluate each candidate carefully, testing for toy and hunt drive, sociability, and overall confidence. Once accepted, they begin a structured training process focused on building motivation, clarity, and reliability in the field.

My goal is to help small departments and search teams access affordable, capable working dogs without sacrificing quality. I keep communication open throughout the process, and when possible, include handlers in training sessions so they can build trust and understanding with their dog before placement.

This program averages 6-8 weeks. Costs depend on adoption fees, travel, and training time.

Private Lessons for Working Dogs

One-on-One Coaching for Working Teams

Private lessons are designed for handlers who want focused, personalized training for their current working dog. These sessions are perfect for teams looking to fine-tune detection or tracking work, troubleshoot behavioral challenges, or strengthen drive and control.

Each lesson is built around your goals and your dog’s individual strengths. I work alongside you to create better communication and problem-solving strategies so you can keep progressing with confidence outside of our sessions.

Private lessons are $125 for the first session and $100 for follow-ups. Lessons take place in the Bonners Ferry, Idaho area, and ongoing coaching can be arranged for departments or handlers who want consistent support.
